Future Water Awards 2020

Congratulations to Glenfield Invicta's Rowan Speers and AVK UK's John Brelsford 09-12-2020

Congratulations to Rowan Speers of Glenfield Invicta. Winner of the Future Water Covid-19: Above & Beyond Award!

Rowan was announced as joint Winner of the ‘Covid-19: Above & Beyond Award’, on Thursday 3rd December 2020 at the prestigious digital Future Water Annual Awards evening.

Rowan was nominated for putting his unexpected free time to good use back in April whilst on furlough, by making hundreds of protective visors for frontline care workers fighting Covid-19.

Rowan explains

‘I wanted to play my part and use my skills and expertise to support our frontline healthcare workers. Protective visors, although simple, are a fundamental piece of PPE that many frontline workers desperately needed, and thanks to the generous funding from Glenfield Invicta, in addition to that from Marlborough House School, I was able to make even more face shields to meet the needs of local care homes, NHS workers, and also the Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex.”

Congratulations to John Brelsford of AVK UK Finalist in the Future Water Emerging Talent Award!

We would also like to say congratulations to John Brelsford of AVK UK, who was a finalist for the Future Water Emerging Talent Award. John was nominated for his passion and help in driving our online engagement, ensuring that we continue to support our customers in delivering best value solutions, despite challenges with face to face meetings. John played a pivotal role in leading a small team across various business functions in shaping AVK's presentations to ensure that young engineers are engaged in the learnings which AVK can offer in terms of reducing leakage and optimising network performance.

John has shown a particular interest in collaborating with utilities to understand how best to provide a tailored solution rather than simply supplying a product. This interest, both in the sector and market as a whole, has led him to engage with other manufacturers and customers to understand the challenges we all face in delivering a sustainable and enduring water sector.

His fresh look at the way in which our industry engages with the best and brightest young talent has been truly inspirational.
