The founder, Aage Valdemar Kjaer
The History of AVK
AVK was established in 1941 in the modest facilities of Galten, Denmark. The founder, Aage Valdemar Kjær (hence the name AVK), performed everyday plumbing and heating services in and around the surrounding area of Galten. In addition to these everyday services, the company also had a minor production operation in which it produced compressors for the refrigerator industry, which mainly supplied farmers in need of cooling their cows’ milk.
In 1969, Aage Valdemar Kjær’s son, Niels Aage Kjær, took control of the business and started to develop a soft-sealed gate valve used for the water supply. The first series of valves produced by Niels Aage Kjær - a socket gate valve for PVC pipes - formed the basis of the AVK that we know today.
Over time, business goals were expanded and today, AVK not only produces valves, but also fittings and accessories for the four segments – water supply, gas supply, sewage treatment, and fire protection.
