Here at AVK UK we couldn’t wait to dig out our festive knits and on Thursday 13th December 2018, all staff, nationwide, took part in donning their most colourful and eccentric sweaters for charity. Friends, colleagues and customers donated money to charity, in exchange for the opportunity to show off their silliest, wooliest christmas creations.
The day was full of fun and festivities, including the ‘Best Christmas Jumper’ competition, however, fun aside, the real reason for pulling on our christmas jumpers was never far from our minds. We are delighted to announce that the overall fundraising, within the AVK UK Group, which also included Parkinson’s UK amongst other charities, was just short of £4,000.
‘Save the Children’ is a charitable foundation, founded in 1919 by sisters Eglantyne Jebb, and Dorothy Buxton, following the devastation of the First World War, children were suffering from starvation and disease. The sisters, determined to make a difference began their campaigning, leading to the charity as we know it today.
Their mission is to fight for children every single day. Standing side by side with children in the toughest places. They will do whatever it takes to make sure children survive, get protection when they’re in danger, and have the chance to learn.
AVK UK would like to say a big thank you to all those who donated and took part on the day, as we continue to raise funds for charities both local and national.
