Although everything is a little different in 2020, it is more important than ever to come together in celebration and spread some much needed Christmas cheer.
As part of our Christmas Jumper Day, under normal circumstances, we would have a small get together and share a few laughs as we compare our crazy jumper designs, however, this year was going to be very different, and as we didn’t want to break the tradition of our annual Christmas Jumper Day, we took the decision to move this to a ‘Virtual Christmas Jumper Day’.
We invited everyone to dig out their festive knits and hold a ‘Virtual Christmas Coffee Break’ with their teams, we also asked that people take this as an opportunity to check in with each other. This year has been challenging and it is important that we continue to look out for each other.
As part of our ‘Virtual Christmas Jumper’ Day employees committed to placing items of food in their local supermarket food collection points and some employees chose to donate money directly to a local charity of their choice.
AVK UK also donated a sum of money to local based charity Aquabox. Aquabox is a charity and community project set up and managed by the Rotary Club of Wirksworth to provide safe drinking water, through the use of filtration units, and humanitarian aid to crisis zones around the world.
Since its formation in 1992, Aquabox has distributed more than 110,000 boxes to countries suffering from natural and man-made disasters, helping hundreds of thousands of people in more than 50 countries. Each Aquabox Gold Box, which is tailored to support a family group, contains water purification filters as well as items of humanitarian aid to help with shelter and shelter building, lighting, cooking and feeding, educational development and hygiene.
