Announcement : Martin Greenhalgh, MD, AVK UK

Martin Greenhalgh joins AVK UK as Managing Director 30-06-2020

Martin steps into the shoes of Paul Jennings, who has been with AVK UK for 13 years, Paul has taken up a new position on the AVK UK Board as Director- Special Projects.

A mechanical and electrical engineer by training, Martin has held Director and Managing Director positions with multinational businesses like Biwater and SembCorp Utilities for over 20 years. He has worked extensively overseas in territories as diverse as Indonesia, Belize and Chile. Most recently, Martin was Commercial Operations Director at global water technology giant, Xylem.

‘Xylem is similar to AVK in many ways. It is a global multinational, it has a strong portfolio of brand names and it is active across products, services and project engineering. The experience of managing this degree of diversity will be a great help in my exciting new role at AVK UK.

In my career I have had the opportunity to run water utilities in Indonesia and Belize, so I have grappled directly with similar challenges to those faced by the UK water and gas industries at present. I empathise with the difficult decisions they are having to make.’

Martin believes in getting to the nub of an opportunity or challenge as quickly as possible:

‘I am fundamentally an engineer who has accumulated a mass of commercial and management acumen over the years. I am a direct and open person who prefers to ‘say it as it is’, and I want people to relate to me in the same way.

I am really looking forward to building on the excellent results Paul Jennings and his team have achieved in recent years.’

Paul Hubbard is Chairman of AVK UK and a member of the AVK Group Management Board:

‘I would like to welcome Martin to AVK UK. The whole country is currently experiencing a period of great uncertainty. I believe economic conditions will be far from straightforward, but I know Martin is inheriting an energetic and talented team that has the collective strength to weather the storm and thrive.

All at AVK pass on their best wishes to Martin in his new role.’
