AVK Butterfly Valve Range New and Improved

Introducing the New EV-i Series: Enhanced Performance, Reliability and Ease of Use

Our butterfly valve range has just got better with a series of innovations designed to deliver greater efficiency, reliability, improved performance, and long-term value for our customers. 31-03-2026

Centric type butterfly valves with fixed rubber lining from Wouter Witzel, part of the AVK Group.

The new EV-i series is a fully upgraded and enhanced evolution of the existing Eurovalve EV butterfly valve range, and has been developed to incorporate the latest innovations in valve design, materials, and production technology.

With this upgrade, all EV i valves now meet the most recent international valve standards, ensuring compliance across a wide range of applications. More importantly, the redesign significantly reduces Total Cost of Ownership by increasing reliability, extending service life, and simplifying installation.

Key Enhancements of the EV-I Series Butterfly Valves – What’s New

  • Square shaft design for direct actuator mounting
  • Play free hexagonal disc–shaft connection
  • Fully machined valve bodies for optimal sealing
  • New lenticular disc for improved flow
  • Enhanced coating durability
  • Upgraded shaft sealing
  • Anti blow out safety compliance with EN593 & API 609
  • Improved marking for full traceability

Details on each of the benefits:

1. Optimised Shaft Design for Seamless Integration

The square shaft dimensions of the EV i series are designed to match the connections of most used actuators and DIN standards (gearboxes, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic actuators). This results in:

  • minimal need for brackets, shaft adaptors, or flange adaptors
  • direct actuator mounting, saving both space and cost
  • reduced risk of play in the shaft–actuator interface
  • extended lifetime and improved reliability of both valve and actuator

2. New Hexagon Disc – Shaft Connection

The disc will be connected to the shaft using a completely play free hexagon connection instead of the proven conical pin design. Benefits include:

  • fewer valve components in contact with the medium
  • assembly without machining
  • disc and shaft replacement without machining or special tools
  • compliance with customer standards where pin connections are not permitted
  • compatibility with various disc surface treatments without affecting the connection

3. Fully Machined Valve Bodies

All valve bodies will now be machined internally (previously only DN600/24” and above). Combined with our vulcanized, bonded to body liner design, this results in:

  • more consistent rubber thickness and roundness
  • optimised disc sealing surfaces and radii
  • lower and more predictable operating torques
  • more economical actuator selection
  • extended service life

4. Newly Engineered Disc Shape

  • The new disc design is primarily lenticular rather than flat. This provides:
  • improved flow characteristics
  • reduced flow resistance
  • lower disc weight without compromising strength

5. Improved Coating Durability

All unmachined edges are cast with radii (minimum R2 or R3 where possible). Machined edges retain part of their radius. This reduces the risk of coating damage during transport and installation, resulting in:

  • longer coating life
  • reduced maintenance
  • lower touch up costs

6. Enhanced Shaft Sealing – Top Side

The top shaft sealing uses thicker O rings and plastic (POM) spacers. Advantages:

  • improved durability for high cycle applications
  • corrosion free components
  • excellent chemical resistance

7. Shaft Sealing – Bottom Side (up to DN350)

Standard sealing rings are replaced by bonded sealing washers with improved sealing performance. The plug design remains unchanged.

8. Anti Blow Out Design

An Anti Blow Out plate ensures that shaft sealing integrity remains unchanged even when a lever or actuator is removed. This design fully complies with the latest EN593 and API 609 requirements.

9. Marking and Traceability

Each EV i valve will be equipped with a marking plate containing:

  • all standard required information
  • additional traceability data
  • optional customer specific markings

We are confident that the new EV i series represents a significant step forward in performance, reliability, and ease of use. Our team is ready to support you with technical information, product selection, or any further clarification you may require.

Mamoun Humayra, AVK Water Product Manager, said:

“The EV i series reflects our commitment to innovating with purpose. Every enhancement is designed to bring greater reliability, extended service life, and reduced installation complexity to our customers.”
